The start-up called River which is based in Bengaluru has recently started its Indie e-scooter at a price of Rs 1.25 lakh. The Indie adds up practicality at the forefront with features such as broad space for storage, pannier mounts, front foot pegs, and crash guards. The colours which are available in River Indie is available are three which include Monsoon Blue, Summer Red, and Spring Yellow.

As per River, the start-up of the e-scooter was come up with through a design-first approach at its R&D facility in Bengaluru. The Indie will lead a new unique feature and its design offering with many additional features such as the largest 43-liter space of 55-liters (43-liter boot space and 12-liter glove box). The peak power of the e-scooter is 6.8kW which can reach a high maximum speed of 90kmph, 18 degrees of gragradability 4kWh battery provides a claimed real world-range of 120km.
The unique feature of e-scooter has 14-inch wheels, the first in the e-scooter segment in India, which allows a flexible and much more comfortable riding position, and better rideability manoeuvrability on any type of road conditions. It has a lock & load pannier-stays that on the sides providing an array of variations in the customization options to serve various purposes for customers.
Along with its unique style and design model, it features a signature twin beam headlamps and a unique tail lamp design to give the e-scooter a distinct look. The motorcycle-inspired clip-on handlebar provides better handling and stability, which also protects the e-scooter panels in the event of a fall.
River Indie e-scooter: price, rivals
The River Indie started up their price structure of Rs 1.25 lakh (introductory price), also which undercuts the likes of the Bajaj Chetak, Ola S1 Pro, and the Ather 450X but is much high expensive than the TVS iQube S. Much like the Chetak and the iQube, the Indie is an electric scooter that’s geared more toward everyday usability than outright sporting ability like the Ather. They also planned to implement a fast-charging network very soon, the progress in the same going on but it won’t launch this year. Now, the River will sell the Indie e-scooter in Bengaluru, with plans to expand to 50 cities across India by 2024.
To support a variety of riders, the riding position is designed to accommodate individuals of different heights. It claims to come with the longest and widest seat in the segment, which provides higher comfort. The Indie also sports a front food peg, a first in the scooter segment in India. A twin rear hydraulic suspension and telescopic front suspension add to the comfort.
